The second phase of the “National Carbon Emissions Trading and Voluntary Emission Reduction Trading Registration System Establishment and Capacity Building Project” was successfully held

On March 8, 2016, the second phase of the China-Norway Cooperation “National Carbon Emissions Trading and Voluntary Emission Reduction Trading Registration System Establishment and Related Capacity Building Project” was successfully held in Beijing. Officials from the National Development and Reform Commission, the United Nations Development ProgrammeUNDP, the Norwegian Embassy in China, and the Norwegian Environment Agency attended and delivered speechesThe experts from the National Development and Reform Commission Energy Institute, the local Development and Reform Commission, the Carbon Exchange, third-party verification agencies and typical enterprises put forward a proposal on project implementation.

 

At present, the national carbon emission trading and voluntary emission reduction transaction registration system funded by the United Nations Development Program and the Norwegian government has completed development and construction, and the voluntary emission reduction transaction registration system has been successfully put into operation. The second phase of the project, which is expected to be implemented over a three-year period, aims to further assess and improve the national quota allocation system for carbon emissions trading, develop a provincial-level implementation of carbon emissions trading, deepen and expand capacity-building activities on carbon trading, and design an information platform for carbon trading in China.
